Description
Chard Guildhall was designed by a local architect in Classical Style, the building had a combined use of town hall, market house, and corn exchange. It is a Grade 2 listed building originally built in 1834-35. Judge George Jeffreys, famously known as the “Hanging Judge,” left a chilling mark in history with the stern punishments he imposed on Duke of Monmouth’s supporters. Seventy-four individuals faced execution, while one hundred and seventy-five were transported, and twenty-nine were granted reprieves. The echoes of these judgments reverberate through time.

Warm clothing is recommended as this venue can get cold.
We will be investigating in the dark or low light, so please ensure you have a torch. Please do not use head torches as this can blind other guests.
If you have any of your own paranormal equipment you are more than welcome to bring it to use on the investigation.
